The Lakes International Comic Art Festival (14-16 Oct) is being held in Bowness-on-Windermere for its 10th anniversary year and we are delighted to be hosting some events here at the Old Laundry.
The Lakes International Comic Art Festival brings the best comic artists, writers and creators to the Lake District for a packed comic art weekend spectacular. The world of comic art is a diverse and spectacular place, bursting with creations that transport us to other dimensions and stories that explore the world and our place within it. Comic art really can change the world by tackling some of the biggest and most compelling issues of our time. The festival programme includes live drawing, creative workshops, talks, presentations, a comic marketplace, debates, cartoonists, satire, exhibitions and some of the most amazing comic artists from across the globe.
For the 10th anniversary year, the festival brings a re-energised format and a new mission of using comic art to change the world. The family-friendly festival will take place across a number of venues in Bowness-on-Windermere, all within close walking distance and accessible by train and bus.
The festival is taking place within a number of stunning venues including The Old Laundry Theatre, The Windermere Jetty Museum and The Lakesview Comic Marketplace at the Lake View Bar & Grill on the shores of Windermere, and more.
Julie Tait, Festival Director said: “Hosting a comic art festival in Bowness-on-Windermere presents an incredible opportunity to bring the wonder of comics to new audiences within an iconic, world-heritage landscape.”
